We are a research initiative running since 2016, where we explore migration of professional workforce within Slovakia as well as trends overall globally. Main goal is to find similarities and differences between the brain drain factors in Slovakia and compare with other countries that are known for working actively with brain drain topic at many levels. We would like to share the findings more widely then to help mostly regions that are facing critical brain drain in last decades and help them to promote home-coming to wider audience, so regions will become strong again.
Our team consists of young professionals led by 2 seniors from Technical University of Kosice. All team members have lived abroad outside of home country for a certain period between 1 to 20 years. These are also our real stories that lead us to find out more about how we made our decisions to go abroad and return. We have done initial research on all research on the given topic abroad and now real science starts when we are planning to reach out over 1000 people that are living outside of the country of their origin and finding out more about their motivations to return or not.

Our research hypothesis is based on our survey created by our team professionals. The aim is to provide valuable information about current situation of Slovak expats. The research focuses on gaining answers of Why are ‘Slovak brains’ leaving their home country and What would bring them back to Slovakia.
2016 - 2017
Summarize already existing research on the topic of brain drain globally and locally and define main research question and hypothesis.
2018 - 2019
Choose science methodologies, build the databases of research audiences, define possible outputs usage in real world (outside of science).
2019 - 2020
Deliver research, update methodologies, publish first findings, update the audiences if needed .
2020 & beyond
Finalize all results, publish final papers with findings, setting up ongoing research on given topics and helping to implement findings into practice.
